Our Wedding

I was never that girl who dreamed of a fairy tale wedding, until I met Scott.

Our love fell fast and feverish and after just a few short months of dating, we knew this would be our forever!

We started dating during the summer of 2014, by February 2015 we were pregnant with our first son Kennedy then new parents by November 2015 and by June 1, 2016 we were engaged! SHEW! That’s a lot, isn’t it? But on that gorgeous June morning, Scott flew through the front door of our home, sliding in on one knee with the most stunning diamond ring I had ever laid my eyes on, and asked me to be his bride.

We immediately got to planning. Our wishlist included: destination but in the US. Beach-type setting. Romantic. European influence. I scoured the internet and one late evening typed in something like “most romantic wedding venue Miami.” This image of this gorgeous Banyan tree popped up with lights twinkling from the limbs. I looked at Scott and said: “I want to get married here.” The kicker? I still didn’t know where it was!

Click after click I discovered this romantic tree was located on Fisher Island, just outside of Miami, FL at their world-renowned Fisher Island Club. I contacted a dear connection of mine in the wedding industry and we drove down with an appointment to view the facility. Walking on the grounds we felt love, connection and peacefulness. We could hear the cry of wild peacocks roaming the island. It was just stunning. We knew immediately that this was our spot. We set our date for May 20, 2017 to give us at least a year to plan and because we absolutely love the weather in Florida that time of year. It’s slightly warm, the flowers are in full bloom and the humidity is just right.

Finding a wedding planner was easy. Via Facebook, I connected with Amber Schreyver of Oh My! Occasions, and after one detailed phone call, Scott and I knew Amber was our planner. I’ll be honest with y’all, I dream of having the organization skills of this powerhouse. She truly embodies everything a wedding planner should be: creative, organized, detailed, fun, intelligent, outgoing and engaging.

Nearly a year of planning underway, and our perfect wedding weekend arrived!

Rehearsal proceeded a remarkable Cuban dinner by the water and we were off to the Mondrian to join our guests for our welcome party. We danced, dined and sipped our way through the evening during this stunning Havana Nights themed event! Scott and I felt so loved that guests had traveled from all over the globe to join us in this occasion.

Saturday, May 20th I woke up excited with butterflies in my tummy and eager to marry the love of my life. The day was absolutely stunning. Perfect skies. Incredible temperature. We describe the wedding day as casual elegance. It was truly romantic from start to finish with notes of blush, gunmetal and gorgeous natural floral elements. We wanted the entire day to be about our expression of our love as much as it was about the time we all spent together – the wedding party – our family members – and our guests. Each person that came to witness our marriage that day means the world to us and each detailed was laid out in gratitude for their love and support of our family.

Under the Banyan Tree we exchanged our own written vows. With tears in our eyes and shakiness in our voice, we still felt such peace surrounding us. From that moment we became husband and wife, we felt such togetherness and eagerly wanted to celebrate! We couldn’t wait to engage in all the details we had to distinctly put together, including our infamous bourbon + bacon bar, ha!

Aside from meeting our son Kennedy for the first time, this was the most magical day of our lives. It was perfect in every way and we will forever cherish every moment and every memory in our minds.
